i made a vow earlier this week to post at least once a day. it’s only been 6 days and i’m already failing in this marriage. i’ve been working at my daytime job a lot this week, thus the lack of post yesterday. apologies to all my loyal readers (insert sarcasm here).
so while i’m on the topic of vows, and since i am shooting my very first wedding this weekend and browsing for inspiration, i thought i would post links and pictures of some recent weddings from some of my favorite wedding photographers. we are in wedding season after all. and who doesn’t need a little love?
a few personal favs!
molly and darby
photographer: hillary maybery
matt and rene
photographer: craig wolfrom
also love kirsten shultz, thia konig, and dev khalsa in the sun valley area.
and i have to include my new favorite (thanks to design sponge, i think), even though i don’t know him or any of his clients, i’ve subscribed to his blog for the past couple months and continue to be inspired by his images. jose villa, THANKS for making me excited about taking photographs.
here are five of my “starred” google reader posts this week:
i like to bake. so clearly i jumped at the chance to fix a dessert for family dinner tomorrow at anthro. these are the tastiest morsels around. i inherited this recipe from my mom and it’s been a favorite since i was pint-sized, (she used to make half a batch without chocolate chips for me, since i didn’t like chocolate until i was about 15). they are light and not too sweet and melt in your mouth.
cream cheese chocolate chip cookies:
1 cup butter
1 cup crisco
8 oz. regular cream cheese
2 cups sugar
4 tsp. vanilla
4 cups flour
2 tsp salt
12 oz. chocolate chips
preheat oven to °350. beat together softened butter, crisco, cream cheese, eggs, sugar, and vanilla. just until smooth. slowly mix in flour and salt. then fold in chocolate chips. spoon into 1″ balls, on an ungreased cookie sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
SFMOMA just got so much cooler. i was so pleasantly surprised by the lovely rooftop garden and cafe at free tuesday yesterday. britt, brooke and i wandered the museum amidst the crazy crowds, then finished off our visit with a latte at blue bottle. if and when i have money, i will drink blue bottle everyday. maybe multiple times a day.
i leave you with a few things:
1. here is the website for SFMOMA.
2. here is a picture of some blue bottle lattes i took at the farmer’s market a while back.
3. the line for special exhibits on free tuesday is slightly ridiculous, so i’ll be going back some time before november to spend quality time in the richard avedon exhibit. in the meantime, i’ll flip through this.
4. great robert frank exhibit. opens with this quote from the artist: “i am always outside, trying to look inside, trying to say something that is true. but maybe nothing is really true. except what’s out there. and what’s out there is constantly changing.” surely, food for thought.
over at desire to inspire (one of my favorite blogs) they profile heaps of cool living spaces, but every now and then they also post some ridiculous pictures of dogs (and not overly cheeseball, either). see exhibit a here: more doggie monday.
reminded me to dig these pics out of the vault. billy’s puppy pal gordie last summer in mackay.
i believe the famous line is, “the coldest winter i ever spent was a summer in san francisco.” thus, i couldn’t resist this spartan coat at anthro. i don’t think i am ever going to take it off. love love love.
as an FYI, all things piper is a consolidation of the creative upturn and stillness in chaos. i found myself wanting a place to post random things, ideas, links and pictures. i suppose all things piper will be an extension of my website, though updated a LOT more. i am taking a vow right now to post at least once a day. hold me to it, people.
i’m slowly sorting through photos i’ve taken in the past month. here are a few gems from a quick weekend in big sur. awesome place. dying to go back and spend more time. plus, i’ll be dreaming about the big sur bakery for months. you can see all the photos on my flickr page.
thanks to my lovely friend, gabe, you’ll be able to purchase a fancy scott USA jacket named the piper, come winter 2010. eeeeek! pictures soon.
